March 27, 2008

The adults tournament schedule has been updated to modify the site for the Pre-Nationals tournament being held on May 10. The new site is Kean University in Union, NJ. Additionally, only 15 teams will be accepted into the tournament. This is a change from 25 teams. The updated schedule is dated 3/27/2008. February 26, 2008: Adult Regionals Requirements

Per the requirements listed in the Adult Player Handbook and the Scorekeeper Certification Requirements, this is a reminder that TWO certificed scorekeepers are neeeded on roster by April 1, 2008 for a team to be eligible for Regionals. This is the same requirement as last season. In additiona, teams need to play in 4 tournaments and players need to play in 3 in order to be eligible for Regionals.

The Men's & Women's B/BB Seeding Season is complete and the teams have been placed in their respective divisions. To see where the teams were placed, check the Team Rankings page. Going forward, all tournaments will be single level.

December 15, 2007

The adults tournament schedule has been updated with an update to the Tournament Director list. The contact information for Karen Valko was put back into the TD list. The adults tournament schedule has been updated with the following schedule changes. The updated schedule is dated 12/8/2007. NOTE: Always Refresh/Reload the schedule page to ensure that you have the latest schedule.

The 1/12 Fetz Invitational & Six Pak Open at Downstate Athletic Center has been moved to HP Volleyball Academy. The date remains at 1/12.

Entry forms are also available for the Fetz Invitational and the Six Pak Open.

The 1/13 Men's BB tournament at Downstate Athletic Center has been moved to JFK. The date remains at 1/13.
The 1/19 Women's BB tournament at Downstate Athletic Center has been moved to JFK. NOTE: The date changed to 1/20.

December 3, 2007

NOTE: The Men's & Women's B/BB Seeding Season tournaments in December are sanctioned.

The rules used for the regular season sanctioned tournaments apply to the December B/BB seeding season tournaments.

The uniform rule is in effect.
One-day memberships are not allowed.
You must have a full roster of at least 6 players.
You can only borrow players from teams within your club (per the rule established in previous seasons).

Results from the November and December seeding tournaments will be used to determine which teams are B or BB teams.
Results from December seeding tournaments will be included to determine team rankings and to seed tournaments for the remainder of the season.

The Men's BB tournament schedule for 1/19/2008 at Hunter College has been moved to 1/20/2008 (still at Hunter College).
Results of the B/BB Seeding Season tournaments held in December 2007 will be used to determine team rankings for the rest of the season.
The updated schedule has three pages: 2nd half schedule on page 1, 1st half schedule on page 2, and the list of tournament directors on page 3. The tournament director list is also available at http://www.geva.org/adults/07-08/tournamentDirectors.php.

The adults tournament schedule has been updated. This update includes a list of tournaments scheduled in January 2008. The remaining 2nd half schedule will be available soon. There has been an update to the adult tournament schedule regarding B & BB tournaments. The Seeding Season has been extended through the end of December, 2007. The change is necessary as not enough teams have played to split up the B & BB divsions. The updated schedule is dated 11/25/2007. Additionally, the tournament director for the PowerZone tournaments has changed to Mark Thatcher.

As there have been some questions and issues about how to register/sign-up for Adult tournaments, here is a quick refresher.

You MUST sign-up for tournaments in advance. As the season progresses, you will find that tournaments will fill quickly. So, get in your tournament entries in as soon as possible.
Send an tournament entry request to the Tournament Director (TD). Normally, a team roster is sent with the proper payment to the TD. TD information (address, phone, checks payable to, etc.) is available at /adults/07-08/tournamentDirectors.php. Contact the TD in advance as there might be alternative ways to sign-up for the tournament.
The fees for tournaments are available at http://www.geva.org/adults/07-08/tournamentFees.php.
If you do not have a team roster to send in with your entry, contact the TD to find out what will be accepted.

The registrar is getting lots of emails asking "How do I register?" Please note that we are using a new registration system this year; so, you don't need (nor can you use) your login information from last year's system.To register as an individual, do the following:

Click on the "Registration" link, above.
Read down to the first bullet on the page, then click where it says "Read this, first, for more information".
READ (and maybe even print) the document from 2. above.
After you have read the instructions, click on the bullet item "Register as an individual PLAYER, COACH, or OFFICIAL"
Follow the directions from the document referred to in 2. above.
Don't forget that you MUST PRINT the Form under the link "Individual Registration", sign it, and take the form to your first tournament.

A clarification was made to the schedule so that it shows that the A division does have a Friendship season while the B and BB division have the seeding season. The Maccabi organization is sending one indoor men’s, one indoor women’s, and a beach contingency to compete in the Pan American Games in Buenos Aires, Argentina from December 22, 2007 to January 3, 2008. They are looking for Jewish athletes to round out the rosters. For more information click please visit: here.

The 2007 elections were held during April and May for representatives to the Adult and Junior Competition Committees with the following results:
